Antenna down, but have it still work?

Okay so we all now how bad the big antenna looks.
I unplugged my whole antenna so it wouldn't go up anymore when im listing to CDs and MP3 player.
However, I still want to maybe listen to the radio sometime ya know?

Is there anyway that I could stop the antenna from rising up, but still get some reception?!
Like going into the thing or something?
Ive looked around but didn't really know whats what. ha.

any ideas? i dont want a new antenna or nothing like that. just have it in the down position and still listen to the radio.

just disable the motor? that might work, but your recepion is gonna SUCK! better off getting a short antenna instead...

Yeah you can get the OEM s2k antenna and signal amplifier, however its kind of expensive.

Another option is to go the aftermarket route with the SharkII antenna http://www.locustom.com/shark2_kit.htm

Or you can do what I did, my antenna mast was stuck or something(I could hear the motor working) so what I did was just pull it halfway up. The reception was still fine and it only looked half as bad.

just put a switch in the twelve volt wire that goes to the antenna that way you can put it up when ever you want. when its going up just flip the switch off and it will stop half way!!

they also have antennas that look just like the tiny little xm radio ones that are just like a small little square magnet, just another option.

i'm pretty sure the antenna doesn't come up when you listen to CDs. i hate the stock antenna too, so that's all i would listen to in my teg before i shaved it.

there are hidden antennae kits you can buy and mount yourself. Autoloc and Metra makes some.
