Amplifiers, Oldskool Vs. Newskool

I was looking at a 1000 watt amp by jl audio , and lead me to this question :


Whats the difference in lets say an oldschool (i.e. zeus,rockford) 1000 watt amp (1989) as opposed to a newschool (i.e. jl audio,mbquart,audiobahn) 1000 watt amp (2006) ?

The newer amp may have more features, crossovers and stuff. Newer amp will probably be more reliable. It's a pretty broad question, there could be 100 things different between the 2. :???:
