im running 1 12in with a boss w575 450wx2ch.
the amp went into safe mode the other day. the amp was a little warm but not hot. i let it cool down for the rest of the day. its still in safe mode after 3 days. i looked into the plexi glass panel and nothing looks burned. i checked all of my woreing and connection and it all looks good. i know its a boss but i cant afford anything else. this is the first time its ever gone into safe mode.

does anyone have any ideas on what it could be?

How long has this setup been running in your car? Is it a fresh install, or is it old and just now doing this?

ive had it in for about four months now and never had a problem.

i went out there to mess around with it.im using a light tester. i ground it off then touvh the power wire of the amp and the light comes on. i hold it then turn the car to the on position hear something click in the engine bay and the light goes off( no power)
i turn the car back off and it takes about two minutes for power to come back on.

i pulled my carpet and no cuts in the wire.

Have you changed or touched anything lately?

Are you testing the main power wire or the amp turn on wire? Is your main power wire attatched directly to the battery?

yes it goes strait to the battery.
i havent messed with anything since i installed it.
im testing the main power wire not the remote.

You may have a blown amp, sounds like it's shorting out inside the amp. Is the fuse in the amp good?

fuse is good and nothing inside looks burned out.
a blown amp would make the main power goes away when you turn the ignition on?

Yeah. It doesn't actually go away 100%, but the voltage drops really low. But maybe the amps OK if it's fuse isn't blowing. It drops when the ignition is turned on because that's when the deck turns the amp on.
Is your ground solid, is it a good ground?
The amp doesn't smell burnt? It takes an experienced nose to tell the difference between a warm/used amp and a blown amp, the smells aern't very far off sometimes. I'd go by the smell of an amp rather than the looks of the circuitboard to try and tell if it's blown.

Amp only need 3 items to simply turn on:
-Power to the main power terminal
-Power to the remote turn on terminal
-Ground at the ground terminal

Run a wire from your main power terminal over to the remote turn on terminal, and ground the ground terminal. Disconnect the RCA's and the speaker wires first, though. See what happens then, at least you'll then be able to determine with certainty if the amp still works. Then once you establish that, you can troubleshoot other areas.

Dang, bad amp, that sucks.
Well, maybe you sub was running at too low an impedance, something to check out so you don't blow your next amp. But then again, it usually doesn't take long to fry an amp that's running at too low an impedance, it wouldn't take months. And you said the amp wasn't really warm. Just brainstorming here.
Did you buy that amp new?
