Ok, so I have a 1995 LS/SE. I put an aftermarket headunit in it and had to run its power wire to the battery for it to get power. I know why it wont come on with the ignition, being the Anti Theft on the OEM Headunit, but i don't know how to actually have the headunit come on with the ignition. Can anyone help? I would appreciate it.

why did you have to run the power wire directly to the battery? the wire should have been there to connect it to

I ran the Power wire straight to the battery because when it was spliced into the pre-existing harnesses there was some kind of a problem. Its been awhile, but i think it had to do with no power when cranked or on acc/ignition. So, I wired the power wire straight to the battery for power and have to manually turn the Headunit off and on. Making preparations to sell this one and buy a GS-R and would like everything to work in the manner it should. Lol.

Idk I'd say just redo the wire n the harness instead of doing what you did. Idk just my opinion tho

If you wired it directly to the battery, then there is no way it will turn on when you turn the ignition without moving the power wire. There are some extra spots in the fusebox under the steering wheel you can use. There should be an always on, and an acc/ignition .

Took me so long to find that page. Run the power wire to the right plug, then the radio will turn off when you remove the key, and turn on when you put it to the acc/on position

Thanks so much! I am gonna do that tomorrow before work! :)

Wait... What?
there are more ignition power wires than the one in the harness (cig lighter) and it is never a good idea to run wires without fuses...

I thought there were fuses controlling each one of those plugs? OP can still splice a fuse inline of the wire near the headunit.

if you bought the harness to just plug in to the stock car harness you could have a bad power connection, that happened to me once. I ended up having to buy a new one(got a refund on the old one of course lol)

Meh, I'll find a way to get it working right. (Trying all the above on my next day off which is Friday i think). I am about to sell it and buy the woman a 1997-2002 Toyota 4Runner while i search for an unmolested GS-R 5speed with less than 120K on it. All it takes is patience and not settling for second best. :) Thanks All!!!!

Ok, so i put the .250" Female spade connector on the end of my power wire and plugged it into its proper place and it works! However, the radio is now behaving as if it had no memory wire. Should I splice the memory wire (Yellow i think) into the power wire as well?

hey heres a quick thing
the radio has 2 wires that need power flow

yellow - memory wire needs to be on a constant 12 volt current, its white in your ignition harness just pull down the knee panel, it runs down, which will keep your memory saved

red - Acc. or ignition usually in all honda yellowwire in ignition harness is acc.
