Adjust Distributor

HELLO ALL, MY NAME IS ROBERT PRETTY NEW TO THIS SITE AND IT HAS HELPED ME OUT ALOT . NOW HERES MY PROBLEM I BOUGHT MY 1987 INTEGRA "COLD AIR , STRAIGHT PIPE " WELL A FRIEND OF MINE CHECKED THE TIMING AND IT WAS NOT EVEN REGISTERING SO HE ADVANCED IT. ALL THE WAY ADVANCED IT READS AT 1 DEGREE NOW, SO WHAT I NEED TO DO IS TAKE THE DIST OFF AND ADVANCE IT 12 DEGREES. DOES THIS SOUND RIGHT AND IF SO WHICH WAY WOULD I MOVE IT ..........THANK YOU

you don't have to take the distributor all the way. Just loosen the bolts and give it a little turn. When I say little I mean little. Also, invest in a timing light. You can get one for $80 at Sears. It will be your best friend.

Thanks guys the distributor is all ready adjusted with the bracket i have to actuall y move it over with the teeth........................

hmmm.... i dont think i would advise adjusting the timing all the way.

why is it advanced all the way? Not a good idea. I think your looking at the timing marks incorrectly.
