A few problems I discovered after buying the car...

These aren't' affecting drivability, but I'd like to have these conveniences that came standard with the car:

The door ajar light won't go off. Both seatbelts move back like they're supposed to, but the car thinks a door is open.

None of the interior lights or trunk light work. Map lights included. Might be a good thing because of the first problem

My clock and cigarette lighter don't work, and are there supposed to be lights on top of the climate control buttons? LOL

Cruise control turns on but doesn't engage. Not really a problem because I haven't driven this thing on the highway more than an hour. Not doing that until I get new tires and a radiator fan, and even then idk lol

The Kenwood deck (best thing about the car) works just fine. I need to find a good time when it isn't so damn hot outside to check the fuses (damn Texas summer lol). Also, there's a bunch of wires cut behind the car. idk who installed this thing but it looks like a crappy job, and might explain some of the problems. The guy I bought it from said the clock used to work and that there's some sort of regulator behind the dash...? Also, does this car have an accessory mode besides the one where all the lights on the dash are on? My DC did, and it looks like this car does, but the radio only works on the second mode.

Dont know about gen2's, but the interior light issue sounds like a fuse is bad, or the wires you say are cut are the problem.

check the door trigger, i think thats what it could be if u check it out with and ohms meter and open and close the switch and it still beeps its ur door trigger

The head unit should work in accessory mode (first click) unless if it's wired wrong. I would get a wiring diagram and check the connections to it. Sounds like the kid who had it before you did a hack job and didn't really know what he was doing.

Look at the fuse cover under the dash and find the lighting fuses and make sure they are all good. The door ajar light is probably due to a bad door sensor, may need to be replaced, Unscrew it and use a volt meter to see if it still works.

Same with the clock and cigarette lighter, check fuses.

What do you mean lights on top of climate control button? There is a light in the A/C button to tell you if it's on as well as above the different settings.

Yea, I'll have take some time and rewire everything cuz I know from experience that first click is there for a reason. :???:

I checked all the fuses inside and none look blown. The door ajar light went off finally. WD-40 FTW. I remembered I sprayed the latches on my mom's '96 Taurus years ago. The first time her lights were stuck on she paid hundreds of dollars for someone to fix it...just so they could come back on like a year later. A $3 can of lubricant fixed it for good.

The A/C light definitely works, but I mean for like vent and defrost controls, there's no indicator lights on top to let you know which is which. What's odd is that there's a little light bulb that shines on top of my deck and it works, but a lot of other stuff doesn't. Interesting.

I still haven't checked the rest of the interior bulbs, but I find it hard to believe that they're all burned out, especially since I've had a door ajar light on for weeks. Oh well, things are slowly coming along, and the car hauls regardless. Thanks for everyone's input.
