well actually I bought a 98 LS last month and everyone told me not to get it because it's salvaged but once I drove it I fell in love, My EM1 got stolen and I have recently found tegs are good too, if it has any vibrations, hesitations, feels like there isn't any power, just use your good judgement but do your self a favor, if it's auto wait for a manual, I bought an auto because there are no tegs in my area and once I get my engine I get a tranny to and I will be swapping so that wont be fun but it's a free lsd. make sure the engine bay looks good and some known issues with tegs is the hatch latch will stick sometime in it's life(unless you are lucky) and there is also an issue with exhaust rattle like there is bolts in your cat, just so you know, test drive it and have fun, welcome to CI BTW. I'm Casey

my daughter and i sat in it yesterday with the motor running while we looked at it (test drive today) there was a exhaust rattle - dealer said he knows and is taking care of it. other than that ran smooth the auto tranny went thru the all gears no problems. the inside is clean and in good condidtion - the exterior has no major body issues. the 156K? miles? concerns me. any reason?
ps - hi casey and thanks and by the way it is a 98 LS!

drive it and be smart. if it doesnt feel right, have a pro mechanic drive it, and see what they say... welcome to CI! oh, and Casey, i tried to look at your "picture"....thanks for that...

the rattle you heard was most likely a heat shield. you can take that off and your problem is solved. How much are you paying for the car? you mentioned it but it didnt make sense.

i think he ment $5100... but if its an auto i would wait till i found a good manual, and wouldnt buy from a dealer....

the rattle sounded like a rear end noise - but i know how noise can travel! i will tell the auto tech at the dealer if i get it - this will be thr 3rd car i got from him - asking $5.9 but for me 5.1 for 98 LS with 156k

5100 sounds too high. for a 98 ls with that many miles...and an auto. I paid 5000 for my 98 ls with 116,xxx. that just sounds like too much. i would wait till i found a better deal, and a manual... UNLESS you do WANT an auto

WOW thats a price. I would honestly wait. You can find a better deal even if its an auto what your looking for. If you live on either coast they are cheaper and also some states near illinios. But 5100 for a 96 with that much mileage is asking alot. i bought my 96 for 3000 and it had 130000, havent had one problem with that car since i bought it 2 years ago:)
