94 GSR no crank, no start

So, I've checked around and none of the other posts seem to have the same symptoms I'm having...

Started my car the other day, drove 5 mins, turned it off for a sec, no crank, no click, no start when I went to leave. Push start got it going and got me home (so, not the alternator). Battery is fully charged and holding charge, all interior lights are working fine, and gauge cluster. Fuses are all good, and it will start when the key is in run and I arc the starter... I don't know where to go next. Any suggestions?

Your ignition could be going out. Test the voltage going to the ignition wire thats on the starter. To test it just unplug it from the starter and hook a volt meter up to the wire. Then turn the key as if you were to start it. Pretty straight forward.

No click as in main relay click? If not hearing a click that might be it but im not sure if the car can be started via alternate means if the main relay is out. By arcing the starter you mean you run a jumper direct from the battery right? If this is the first time its happened and isnt consistently a problem it might not be so quickly resolved.

Disconnected ignition wire from starter and tested, reading fine, as well as the 4 on the back of the ignition barrel (just to be sure).

No click as is nothing other than the click of the key turning in the ignition. And I arced it with a screwdriver from one side to the other of the starter itself.

There is no battery corrosion or wire corrosion that I can see. It was working fine one minute then nothing the next.

Jesus is THE way
i had this problem before, my car would shut off while driving and sometimes wouldnt start at all then randomly it would start. turned out it was the ignition switch that was going bad. luckily i had a buddy with a scrap del sol, he let me "borrow" his switch to make sure that was the prob. long story short he never got his switch back

It doesn't shut off while running. Runs fine once it starts, but it only starts if I arc the starter or pop the clutch.

A starter problem can be hard to diagnose cus it can be finicky. I have a starting issue that I haven't been able to pinpoint cus it only happens a handful of times a year. Very inconsistent but I think I believe it's the starter at this point. If your problem is active now my favorite troubleshooting method when you have available parts or friends is to swap with a known working part, in your case another starter.

Trial and error is often the only way to go about troubleshooting so here are a few more steps a bit more thorough.

My del sol did something very similar to this, it was a junker so all we did was run a wire from the starter to the battry, and put a push button in the middle, put the key in, turn it but not crank it, push the button- Start... sold the car a year later like this. Might be able to troubleshoot like that to rule out the starter being an issue, my not so well versed in mechanics 2cents.

So, double checked and found the problem... Turns out the clutch button that engages for the start sequence isn't making contact when the pedal is pressed. Now the problem is how to get into that tiny space to fix it...

Well there's an uncommon one. Would never have thought of that, in part cus my clutch is bypassed. Better add that to the master list of no start resolutions. Hah Best way to get in there.... lay down. It's gonna suck. Replaced my cmc like that.

Pull the lower dash panel off. Itll allow for better light and other ways to get to it to adjust it.
