92 LS no spark, no fuel pump

Hi guys, I have been stricken with a problem with my 92 LS. I drove it home from work the other day, and it ran great. I got home, and shut the car off. I come back out 5 minutes later, and it just cranks, and wont start. I listened for the fuel pump, and it dosent kick on when you turn the key. I touched a plug on a metal surface, and there is no spark. I did some research, and found a lot about the main relay going bad. I replaced the relay with a brand new one, and same results. I checked the 3 sensors at the distributor plug in, and the ohm readings were good on all of them, and there was no continuity to any. I checked the plug in for the main relay, and it was good. There are no blown fuses. I tried to jump the pigtail connector near the computer on the passanger side floor, and the check engine light would not flash. I tried the other 2 prong connector, thinking maybe I did the wrong one, same results. There is a 3 pin connector with some type of chip, I dont think thats the right one?? What else could it be? Both no spark, and no fuel happened at the same time, after I shut the car off. I have tried numerous times to start, and not even close to a pop. Let me know if anyone has had this problem, or what to look for next. Thanks.

No, I havent swapped distributors, and unfortunatly dont have one to do so. Would the distributor have anything to do with the fuel pump not kicking on? Im on my way out to pull the rear seats out, to check the wires going to the pump for voltage. From what I understand, if there is voltage, and the pump dosent kick on, the pump is bad. We'll see what happens. Thanks.

nope that would be the main relay or a fuse or the pump it self

Well I checked for voltage from the wire going to the fuel pump, and there IS voltage for 2 seconds when I turn the key on, so most likely the pump is shot. I am wondering if the pump being bad has any effect on the spark issue in some way. I'll get a new pump, then see what happens. What is a fairly cheap but good pump to put in these cars? I hear a lot about walbro, are these direct replacement, and ok for a stock engine? Thanks guys!

depend if you just plan on keeping it stock then just buy a regular pump but if you plan on upgrading motor or boosting it then I would go with walbro pump

sucks that the DA's have to drop the tank to get to the pump, I've done it to a 90 RS it was a hassle due to having gas in the tank

Well I started reading the manual, and decided I would check some of the ignition components in the distributor, so I took off the cap, removed the screw that holds on the rotor, went to remove the rotor, and busted it. After I got the rotor off, I removed the plastic cover to gain access to the coil. I went to remove the two screws that hold the wires on the secondary post, and the screws were so rusty, they came out with the terminal that the screw goes into. Needless to say, the coil is junk now, so I'll at a minimum be looking to put on a new fuel pump, cap and rotor, and coil. Hopefully it runs after all is said and done. Does anyone have any idea why the check engine light wont flash if I jump the two pin connector near the computer? Thanks again for the input guys.

Ok, I ordered a new fuel pump, and I needed a new coil, and cap and rotor, and got them. I got the fuel pump, and before I dropped the tank, I figured wth, I'll try this one more time. I disconnected the main relay, and inserted the jumper wire in the no. 5 and 7 plug in. To my suprise, the fuel pump kicks on, and fuel reaches the filter, but not when the relay is connected. I know these problems have to work hand in hand, the no spark no fuel. Could my new relay be bad? I checked for contunuity as the manual sugests, with a 12v battery, and it shows continuity, and it clicks on each of the 3 tests, but dosent stay steady for continuity. It will read somthing, then OL on the volt meter then somthing, then OL. Is this normal, or should the continuity stay at a constant number? Are there any other possible things it could be? Thanks.

Alright, I went ahead and got another new relay (lifetime warranty from the one I bought from oreilly auto) Pluged it in, and still no power to the fuel pump. I just dont understand how it can have power and turn on if I jump the harness that plugs into the relay, but if the relay is in there, nothing. I just dont know what to try next. The check engine light is still on, but dosent read any codes if you jump the wires, so it must have no codes to send? Still no spark also. Anyone got any ideas?

You may have a fried ecu or your distru is fried. i had this problem 10 years ago where i got no power any where. Check if you get any spark at plugs if you don't then its going to be your dist.
