My G/f brought this car used with 175k on the odo. I'm not sure what the previous owner did to the car, but I know it was taken to a race trace/drag strip at least once. She has had the car for three days and it died while she was driving it last night(april 29, 2010). Now, she may have run out of gas, but I can't determine that b/c no "low fuel" light came on; and it only drove 215 miles since it was last filled up ( I reset the trip meter). Today, we put about a gallon or two of gas in the tank and the car turned over but didn't crank.

It made no noises when it turned off on her, no "check engine light" is on,but when the car died the battery light and oil lights came on(just changed oil 215 miles before), everything that runs off the battery (lights, radio, etc.) is running, we haven't taken it over 80mph.

I'm no good with cars mechanically, but I can follow instructions well.

there is no low fuel light so dont expect to see one. the lights coming on only mean the ignition is in the "on" position and not running, so you can ignore that as well. first thing your going to want to check for is if your getting spark and fuel. both of which are easily checked.

for spark. just pull one of the plugs and hold the tip about 1cm away from a solid metal surface. have your gf turn the engine over. you should see a spark jump. if not then theres no spark. we'll discuss where to go from there if that is the case.

for fuel. again pull the plug out and this time dry the plug off with a clean rag. then put it back in and try and turn the motor over again. then pull that same plug back out and see if there is raw fuel on it. if there isnt then your not getting fuel.

start from there and see what results you get.
