92 integra overheating, could it be head gasket?

So i picked up a 92 integra thats boosted and has an aftermarket radiator (mitsimoto or something like that) it overheated real badly last week and it just keeps loosing coolant but ive checked thorouly for leaks and replced a couple of hoses and clamps. I checked my oil and it is not milky and whatnot but i fear that i may have a broken head gasket??? Wat else should i look for? Ive replaced the thermostat and i have an aftermarket electric fan on the radiator. I bought the liquid headgasket repair bottle but havent used it yet. Any kind if input would be greatly appreciated. Its my daily driver so i need her running...

Fill it up with water (the coolant) and while the car is running before it gets hot take the radiator cap off. You'll be able to see gas bubble coming thru the radiator if it is your head gasket. From the sound of it tho, you're probably right.

Baller, yo
Similar thing to my 94 GSR, replaced the faulty thermostat, replaced hoses and clamps, bled the system and all that jazz, just keeps heating up, let me know what your issue is when you resolve it, I'll keep you posted on mine! :D

Same here. Car ran hot but never overheated, went through tons of coolant and eventually blew a couple hoses. Replaced the thermostat (old one was partially closed when tested) and replaced all hoses. Installed alum. radiator with 2 slim fans. still ran hot. replaced all sensors relating to the temp and fans etc. still ran hot. checked head no visible leaks....checked oil and it was milky, then car wouldnt hold idle and blew tons of white smoke out the exhaust . so i had an internal leak.....pulled the head off yesterday and look what i found! def. an internal leak! i would replace the headgasket if i was u could be internal like mine and good luck man!

not to hijack the thread but if i had an internal leak like i did, what should i check on the head? I know to check and make sure its not warped. but seems like something was clogged or blocked on my head to cause the coolant to overflow into the pistons. Any ideas? thanks for the help.

ok, so far all of you have put in a lot of money for potentially a cheap fix.

when your car is over heating you do a few simple steps, flush the system, check hoses, make sure your fans are working right, check thermostat, CHECK WATER PUMP, replace as needed. if you know your head gasket is blown then replace head gasket, timing belt, and water pump all at the same time.

my cars over heating right now but as i learned not long ago, the car has 250k miles on it and the head gasket and water pump and timing belt has never been changed, thankfully i figured that out as i was changing them.

CAHLEAN!
Have you pressure tested the coolant system? I couldnt find my leak so i pressure tested it and it was a pin hole ont the back of the engine but it was enough to draid coolant reagulatly. Hope this helps

Ok well today i am convinced that i have a cracked head gasget and i bought a head, headgasget liquid repair type thing. Forget the name of it but it claims to permanently seal any cracks, wraps and all that good stuff, its about $20 or so. Anyways you run it thru ur radiator( follow directions on bottle), then u have to let it dry for twelve hours and that is where im at. Flush system in the morning and fill with appropriate coolant/water mix. Ill post how it goes tomorrow, keeping my fingers crossed...

the only good product ive ever heard of thats a liquid repair is liquid glass, we used it in tractors back in arkansas, but i wouldnt use that in our engines, our engines are built strong but sensitive, and those liquid repair items will cause more harm then good in our engines, if youve used it then take your head off, lean and flush your engine and get that shit out. think about it this way, this shit gets in your engine and is made to solidify in cracks, it cant tell the difference between a crack and a narrow open space, so that stuff is solidifying in places it shouldnt and is going through your engine tearing stuff apart from the inside out.

yea that stuff is bad news man. safe yourself the headache and just pull the head and replace everything. on the bright side, well for me, new gaskets and arp head bolts will be here friday so i should be up and running this weekend. i'm so bored with not being able to go anywhere. i still need to check out the head and make sure its not warped...that should keep me busy for a little while. anyways good luck and let us know how that stuff works out for you.
