hello all ty for your time,

ok so i just got this car seems in good shap little bit of work has been done. so im having a problem with the transmission when its cold it works like a dream, after warming up the shift slips(revs a little before next gear) then after a little longer it just give me nothing. dead in the water. it will just sit there even if i rev to red. reverse drive sport or 2 its all the same. after smoking a cig on the side of the road i started it again and got it back home. (3mins) fluid is the right kinda and i just flushed it. any ideas before i replace the trans?

I wouldn't replace it, mine slips but hasn't gone that far it just sounds like it isn't engaging. Just rebuild it you should be fine after everything is cleaned off. Just hope your not grinding the teeth off the gears

Yeah that is really weird, I would fully rebuild/clean everything, look for anything that doesn't look quite right. Mine slips whenever hot or cold and make sure everything is engaging.

last time my car wouldnt go into gears and sat in my garage for 3 weeks without driving it, turns out my clutch plate was bad. so after replacing that my car ran much better than before. and so this only happens when it is warm?

It's doing it when it's warmed up because the vecosity of the tranny fluid starts to thin out then the fluid starts to seep between the seals in the tranny; basically the tranny is worn out. But, you might be able to drop in some of the transmission fluid stop leak but that will only buy you limited time, maybe. One thing you might want to consider is doing a manual conversion as this is cheaper than buy a rebuilted auto tranny.
