I was driving down the road today and I was going about 30 mph and my car died. Then I tried starting it and it started and drove fine. Then I let it sit foor 30 - 45 mins and started up again fine. after that I started driving it again and it died. Got about 10-15 mins down the road and it died and once I stoped I heard a pop sound. Looked under the hood and the colant was really high when it started out being normal. There was no smoke or anything unusual other than the colant. Any ideas of what could be rong with my car? Ita an 89 2 door hatch 5 speed

do you have a vapor/charcoal canister hooked up? he means that the vapors in the gas tank are built up and cant escape, causing random dying. Try driving it and letting it die, then open the gas cap and try starting it again?

No I don't hav one of those. Where can I get one? Is there anything else that u can think of that could cause it?

Yes check your fuel lines and make sure your air flow is good.

At this point of time I would recommend checking your water pump/ timing belt. If that's bad, fix it now to avoid later problems.

UPDATE: so my car died again after 25 mins of driving. I let it die and removed the gas cap and it still had problems startingstarting. But I let it sit for a couple mins and I got it to start again. I got down the road a little bit and it started acting up again like it was going to die but I gassed it a little bit and got to where I was going wich was 5 mins down the troad from where it died. Any suggestions on what would cause that and how I could possibly fix it?

Hey I think it's your ignition. On the back of the tumbler the connection gets worn out. Try driving your car and when it dies and your still coasting try to turn the key to the left or right a little. You'll see your car starts back up. You might have to hold it in place while you drive until you fix it and it's an easy fix.

Also if you have to turn it to the right make sure you don't go to far or your starter will grind.

Yea. I've noticed that if it doesn't fire back up after a while and I go to turn the key it will whine alot and it'll start out slow then it will start getting faster as I hold it. But it will grind every once in a while if I turn the key and stop then try turning it again.

I would replace that back part of the tumbler. It will sorta looks like a bottle cap with 3 or 4 wires coming off. If you have alot of stuff on the key chain while the keys in the tumbler it will wear out fast. I would replace it since the same thing happened to me and this was the problem.
