Just finished this today, and i figured you guys would like the simplicity (and the money saved) on this.
after seeing how much the direct link accessories were for the ipod (i didnt want an FM transmitter cause the quality just isnt that great), i decided i should figure how to do my own.
i know that my stereo reciever (a Kenwood KDC-MPV6022) had some A/V inputs on the back of it, so i went to radio shack and picked up a RCA-to- headphone cable like this one, only 6ft long for 8 bucks:
6ft turned out to have a little left over but, id get it anyways just in case.
i plugged the RCA cables into the back of the reciever, and then ran the wire inside the center console as pictured (the red line represents the wire underneath):
then i simply poked the headphone jack out through the e-brake boot, and the DIY was complete! it was really easy and cost effective to do, and it works great! the sound is CD quality - MUCH better than a 50 dollar FM transmitter. here are some final pics with the ipod in place:
hope that saves yall some cash, and make sure to PM me or post here if you have any questions about it!
