4 mpg loss

I track my mpg with a droid and since last October I've lost 3-4 mpg consistently (from 27-28 to 24). Whatever happened it was an event, it didn't steadily decline.

Replaced O2 sensor and plugs.

Ideas?

Oh, and on pulling the new plugs after 400 miles they look nice. Not rich or anything. Neither did the old ones.

Okay so my OBD 0 ECU led blinks once, right when I turn the key on, and then never again.

Is that normal, or does that mean oxygen?

Check engine light is not on. I've never seen it on though and I have no idea if it actually works.

honestly 4 mpg's could be lost idling at stop lights, slow moving traffic, and getting on the gas pedal a little more then usual. I would say nothings wrong thats not significant enough of a loss to be anything wrong. maybe an oil change or dirty air filter even. Your going to be chasing a problem thats not there. If it was anything else it would be chugging a significant amount of fuel. Also I wouldent put alot of faith in a phone app its not connected to the O2 sensor or anything in the car its pretty much just guessing

and the you can tell if the check engine works when you turn the key to power on it turns all dash lights on. this is BEFORE you turn it to engage the starter

^^ +1. If you can do basic math, you don't need an "app" to calculate your MPG. And to check it really accurately, you need to fill up at the exact same gas pump every time, letting it cut off by itself, pumping at the same rate (same lock-on notch on the fuel nozzle, and don't pump any more after it cuts off). If you don't drive pretty much the same route every day, same mix of city vs. highway miles, with the AC always on or always off, your mileage is going to vary. Does your exhaust smell rich? If not, chances are you're not wasting any fuel. Are you maintaining constant tire pressure? It can make a big difference. Wheel alignment? Ditto. As stated, check your air filter. Clean your throttle body really well. Dump in a can of Seafoam at your next fill-up.

Good luck with it.
