k so my 96 ls came with the crappy tape player.
i was wondering if their are any specific decks that have to be put in or if any will work. the slot seems rather small and i noticed that there are 2 sctews that hold the tray on under the deck.
do all decks have a port for this?
also i noticed that there are 2 mounting screws on the back and i was wondering if thats generic.
this is what im thinking about buying hense all the questions.

Look on crutchfield.com, Last i checked they have the option to view what parts will fit your car, including decks.

as for the questions your actually asking. you wont mount it the way your stock radio is mounted in the car. if you want this to look good ask around to a few shops and see if you can get a decent quote for someone else to install it. its not tough, but its a pain with all the stuff you have to take out of the car to get to it. if thats more than the wallet can handle then youll be looking for a mounting bracket as well and the new hardware will come with a new cubby hole

hope it helped.

^^^ yep, most shops just ripp you off and TRY to sell you only what they sell and say everything else is crap. Installing a deck specially in a teg is really easy a CAVEMAN can do it.

All aftermarket decks are a standard size. You buy a vehicle specific dash kit to adapt your car's stereo cavity to fit that standard size. You also buy a vehicle specific adapter harness to handle the wiring.

I would recommend that you allow a shop to install it. While it is true that it isn't that difficult, if you don't know what you're doing then you're not going to do it right. Many people in this forum seem to have trouble with it.
