2nd o2 sensor necessary?

do i actually need it. i know that the reason we have it is to see if the cat is actually working but since i have a high flow cat and the check egine light is on anyway cant i just pull it out and plug it. im not doing any tuning so would i still need the sensor. if not im getting it pulled.

OBD2 cars use the first o2 sensor for a/f ratio adjustment and tuning. the second one just takes a reading from the first one and compares the diffence in the o2 content to make sure the cat is working. if you want your CEL to go away then just put an o2 simulator on the second o2 sensor. i've passed inspection 4yrs running with no cat that way. but tx isn't very strict. but it will keep you CEL off
