2000 integra gs turbo(?)

looking into going turbo. already have a aem cold air intake, not the short ram, and a magnaflow exhaust with 2.5 inch tubes all the way from the engine. I know i need to buy everything in a kit or seperately, but I was wondering if there is anything else I need to do to the engine so that it wont blow up in like 3 months?


another question, does anyone recomend buying a hondata system for my 2000. I know my car is obd2 and i need an obd1 converter or something, but i was wondering if anyone has done this and if it has worked for them

hello...welcome to CI! I'm Kyle...

To answer your questions...there are a few things that need to be addressed before you buy anything...

If you are going turbo...I would recommend a compression test on your car so you know how healthy your motor is... if your car is a 2000 im guessing that its got around 75-100K on it... also is it a B18B/B18C/C5 engine in your car? a b18b should have around 180-200 psi, b18c should be around 220-230, and a b18c5 should be around 250 or so when check all of the cyclinders.

If your motor checks out to be ok... I would research on this site about some other people that have turbo kits and how they went about doing it...you simply cannot slap a kit on and go.

And in addition to the turbo kit, you would need to get a bigger fuel pump, bigger injectors, engine management (hondata s300) and other misc stuff such as a better clutch, and some suspension to handle the power...

To run hondata...you do not have to get the conversion harness...hondata just released the S300 system for OBD2 cars...its more expensive but i believe you should be able to pass emissions with it plugged in.

Keep in mind your current mods are almost rendered useless. You could probably get away with using your AIM CAI piping for upper intercooler piping, and pending on your setup...2.5" exhaust may not cut it.

Like Integraguy04 said...get your motor checked out first. Its pretty pointless to plan it all out if you don't have a good starting point. The money could be better used saving for a new motor down the road.

how much do you have to spend? a good kit will cost about 3000 after engine management and tuning (if you piece it together and find some deals). your cai and exhaust should be sold to buy turbo parts.

the car only has 58k on it, I'm guessing the engine is pretty healthy, as far as which type of engine im not sure I didnt know how many differnt ones it could be. haha but thanks for the tips. probably just gonna put the money into a nice header and intake manifold plus the hondata.

how much will tuning with the hondata system change the speed and acceleration?

you can look to see what engine u have by looking at the block, where the trans meets it. Or tell us the trim of your car.

cool and all that I know now, but does anyone know or have any experience with the hondata and would it be worth it for me to buy without having many mods on my engine? I plan on doing some other stuff besides the intake and the exhaust that i have but not sure if I will go turbo or not because it would dig a large hole in my pocket.

on a stock ls motor...ive seen 300 whp daily driven... u just have to go to a good tuner to tune it...you could also buy a used kit but then u run the risk with dealing on how good of quality it is...

some more advise about getting a turbo kit.... NO EBAY...

get a brand name turbo, manifold, wastegate, downpipe, BOV... the only thing i would ever buy off of ebay when it comes to a turbo kit is the intercooler and the piping.

yea if i do decide to go turbo when i have the money definately going to buy a kit most likely. I believe greddy is the only one close to smog legal in california where I'm from, but I can probably get it smogged shadily over in richmond. but thanks for the tips integra guy.

edelbrock makes a smog legal kit i think. its baller pricey though. oh and hondata is great. i personally use neptune rtp (www.hrtuning.com), but both are very similar and make everything a lot easier. oh and btw, the only ebay parts on my car are downpipe and exhaust :).

yea fuc ebay, the only thing that will be on my car off ebay is the tints i bought that are cuttout to 4 door integra tailights to make them black. I definately would rather pay more $$ for a smog legal kit that is a good setup than cheaper for something shitty thats not gonna pass smog.
