1999 Lift Gate Latch

When the lift gate latch is used I can here the motor to the latch working but it no longer works. I have to use the key to open the hatch. How do i know if it is the actuator or the striker or the cylinder switch that needs to be replaced?

24 people have no answer. So what is most likely the part that has gone bad. Actuator?

I don't know. I would replace it all if I were you.
