I want to know what internals i must purchase before a turbo is even considered on my car? I dont want to blow my engine and am looking for a little over 300hp on my car when i do turbo it. If there is a thread with this same topic please forward it to me i am a beginer at this.

I would appreciate the help!! all coments are welcome.

Forged pistons and rods. Valves retainers etc. You'll see people debating sleeved blocks versus not sleeved. I'm a fan of sleeving for reliability purposes.

There are plenty of threads to look at if you use google.

300whp is easy to get these days, you dont even have to crack open the bottom end or the top end.

The biggest question is what type of budget you are working with. Once you determine that, add $1,000 on top of it for misc. shit you will forget about and random runs to the hardware store.

Then we can give you advice on how to go about your goals.

One thing ive learned is, if you wanna build for XXX whp, build it for that plus 100-200whp more. overshoot your goals so you have room to grow because trust me, the boost bug will bite, and it will bite hard.

tnx for the comments. well right now i have 1000$ ready to be spent on the car and i want to start investing on what i need to add to the engine before the turbo. I am going to look at the prices on the pistons and rods and sleeved block to start my build. In total i want to spend about 3k on my car. yes i am going to be doing a lot of research, if anyone wants to add more to my build it would be appreciated

I suggest doing research as there are many threads on this formum, honnda tech etc.

The ebay kit,
Mishimoto half radiator
Mishimoto intercooler
Mishimoto piping
and another manifold

That should get you around 300whp if you tune it on a Hondata, Apexi etc.

IF your numbers (compression) are good you should be able to get that goal no proble

I don't think $3000 is enough to reliably boost your car. I don't know about GSR motors, but typically 300hp is the breaking point for a B18a/B18b.

3k isnt nearly enough for a sleeved/forged/turbo setup.

You are looking upwards of 5k.

Consider this

Sleeves and JUST SLEEVES are about 1,000 alone.
Rods and Pistons are about 750-800
Bearings - 100
Labor and machine work - 300+

and thats just making sure the bottom end is stout, which imo, is absolute overkill for a measly 300whp, but more power to you if you want more reliability.

Im wanting to do the same with my gsr. What would be a good compression set up to boost. Im lookin to make 300 but no more than 350. Where should I start?

Read up on the various turbo threads. There are plenty answering that question. When you have some more specific questions make a thread and we'll help you as best as we can.

depends on what type of fuel youre going to be using.

Generally a 10:1 setup is a nice middleground for compression ratios. Ive seen people do cr in the 9's but really anything lower than that isnt really needed, nor is it helpful to you just driving it day to day.

You should start by creating a budget for yourself based on the goals for your car. Accommodate your build to what type of driving your car will be seeing 90% of the time, and see what you can spend.
