Dude I wouldn't even be nice to them just avoid them and not even talk to them and take it to the board yourself on how you feel watched and uncomfortable because they keep bringing up false accusations against you. And point out how this lady is old and just likes putting the finger on everyone else and no one has said anything about her drunk driving husband!! And bang! How you like them apples!!!

Oh, A HOA... I have one of those here but my neighbors are pretty cool except for one of the families on the side.
HOA's are the worse and they have their own set of rules, chances are the owner of the house does have the rules in the lease as well... If not it will change. Were not allowed to leave our garage doors open unless going in and out, All dogs HAVE to be leashed (there's even signs on the entrance of the town saying it's a $250 fine) and licensed, working on cars can be done behind a closed garage door, No more then 2 cars on the street, 3 car garage= 2 cars have to be garaged and no more then 2 cars in the drive way, cant change the plants outside, can't change color of house, can't have blinds/curtains in any other color but white etc...

Check your lease. If it says no working on your car... Then even if they are being nitpick you'd be in the wrong.
But... If your lease says nothing about it, and your city ordinances say nothing about it... Just ignore them. If they come out to whine, you can call the police for harassment.
Take a record of every time someone comes out and harasses you. Write down the day, time, and what was said. Don't intentionally antagonize them.
If you apply for a restraining order, or end up going to court for some reason, you will want to be 100% in the right. Just my two cents.

YesWhat everyone else has said. People just need to butt the f**k out of other people's business. I hate EVERYONE like that who try to control other people, especially when they don't even know them. Do crap like that in the right neighborhood and you'd be shot on the spot.

My aunt and uncle used to live in one of those suburbia neighborhoods, their rules on cars were so strict, like, if I had a choice of moving there and not working on my car, I'd say hell no. It's time to move, they did and they are literally so much happier now.

Oh.. Lol i coulda sworn u had to have double consent in cali. Well are u sure its not different in states and on circumstances? Only cuz i always here ppl were i live say u cant tape record someone without their consent.i think you meant tape/record, and no its not illegal if its in public. once you step in your house its illegal, TMZ would not be on the air if it was illegal

lol, i had one of these fkin neighbors. When I lived in an apt. My separate garage was below her apt and she complained about me coming home late and "slamming" on the door. I told her I'm weak and cant lift the heavy wooded garage door. lol.
My bike was loud and she complained about that too, but she couldnt do shit. So I would purposely come home late with the bike.
When I moved out I blasted the music packing my shit at 4pm!!! and she comes out complaining.. then I just ignored her.
But you should check with your lease and laws in your area. Also make sure they dont trespass and just play music louder so you dont hear them. Ignoring people like that really pisses them off. Dont give them any attention. Just make sure you're obeying your laws.
