TOTALED my DB8!

Unfortunately, after having my Integra for almost 1 year, I have to say goodbye. Its life ended on 08-05-2011 at approximately1:15a.m. Atleast the motor and drivetrain are still good.

The accident happened in Laguna Beach, CA on Park Ave. I was coming down a steep grade hill from a place called "Top of The World" with my (now ex) girlfriend. I underestimated the steepness of this hill, along with how fast I was going.

Here's what happened.

After going through a steep straightaway, I came up to a left curve. As I was entering that particular curve, my rear end started to slide out towards the left. All I remember is that I turned the wheel to the left. The car started to drift sideways many feet (I blacked out somewhere around here), and turned 180 degrees. As the car was doing a 180, the passenger front wheel slammed into the curb following the rear passenger wheel, which hopped the curb (hence the trailing arms being bent). The car proceeded traveling backwards into some brush, and came to a stop after the corner of the rear drivers side struck a tree.
Luckily, me and my ex girlfriend escaped without any injuries. That is the most important to me.

I am also lucky that the car impacted backwards, that it didn't flip, nor did it hit anything head on. The situation could have turned out much worse, had I not reacted the way I did.

NOTE: I was not under the influence of any drugs or alcohol.

Oh damn that looks bad! I'm glad you and your girlfriend are okay :)

Just warning you, some people on here are gonna go at you about how you're a terrible driver and you don't deserve a teggy etc etc, just ignore em. Shit happens, all that matters is you have the life left to move on!

Good luck with the swap into a DC2 shell!

Absolutely! Life is the most important!

I know people are going to talk shít. That's fine. Everybody is entitled to their own opinion.

I have been on plenty of different canyon runs, so I know how to handle my car fairly well. There are a few people on TI that can vouch for me too. The reason for what happened is simple: The rear tires were bald along the inner wall (hence skidding in the rear), it was slightly foggy out, and there was a chance of the asphalt being moist. Combine that with going too fast down an unfamiliar steep hill, and its a recipe for disaster.

Am I a shítty driver? No. Was I possibly a bit over my head? Yes.
Mistakes happen, and people learn from those mistakes. I know I will.

Anyways, the swap would be a perfect match! :)

If there are any haters on this accident you had, I got your back bro. I'm taking them all down.

What happened to you is exactly what happened to me when I crashed my RX8.

Mountain highway, just went over the peak/summit, starting to go downhill.. I was going like 10 over the limit for the turn (~55), but I may have turned the wheel to sharply, or, jerked it, I guess.. Rear slipped out, didnt really panic, but I tried to correct it and counter steer, but it whipped around 180, passenger side rear bumper hit first at like 35-45 mph? Slid on its side for a few yards, pushed everything on that side up so the door couldnt even open. I miss that yellow girl.


I posted it on a State specific Mazda site (which I will not name publicly), and was severely flamed for it, and everyone said to man up to my mistake, that I was trying to drift, or see how fast I can take the corner (both bulls*** and not what I was doing [just had an accident like you]).

And all I said was, "I crashed my 8, on <insert road here>". And they claimed I was trying to get sympathy lol!


Anyways, let me put this out to all the haters before they get up from their nap time

why the hell would people flame another person for an accident? i bet they wouldnt want to be laughed at after they lost a huge part of their life (the car). people these days are just so stupid lol

Damn bro, that sucks big time. Glad your ok as well, and it wasnt as bad as it could of been. Good luck with the new teg, would like to see pics of the new teg too. Let me know when you get your F/S thread up, if theres something I can use, I'll be glad to help out.

I also got your back if some one talks s***, no one should be talkin down about a crash, unless your driving stupid, or drunk and such.
