Hey i just came into contact with my new integra today and im curious about the engine.

#1 is it a vtec head? the guy i bought it from said it was but when i showed up it simply said it in a weird spot on the head, i have my doubts. i would like a vetc. also in the rear of the head i found the markings pr4y imprinted on the back.

#2 if not what is this head exactly? its also has interga gsr written down the side of its timing belt cover as well.

ill post some pictures to help

first one shows vtec in writing thus why im a little sketchy about it

this one is just a side view were i think the vtec solenoid would be

I don't mean to rain on your boat or anything but DAMN! There is seriously something wrong with the person that wrote that on the valve cover. To answer your question though, its NON-VTEC and just a regular LS motor.

wow..dude that did the custome paint job on the valve cover deserves to be punch in the toe.

Yeah i already bought it. He was asking $1800 for it but i was like no way. took it for $900. Its still a very strong car despite what im hearing from you guys his dumb ass paint and sticker job.

Well hey thanks for your help, im not really upset we already were about 90% sure it was just a stupid thing the prior owner did. he also wrote vtec in the same fashion on the intake with gold paint as well...

i did a vin decoder and it said it was an integra gs. is this engine head from that model or something else thrown in there for no reason?

thanks again

non vtec ls motor that is the proper head for your car gs has the same motor as ls and rs.

I seriously cant believe someone actually did that...

Yep, Tylers right that's the OEM motor most likely, but definitely non vtec... Someone fails at life

im a little confused on this guy. so it is a b18a1, in a gs model. so are you saying its a ls head? or i should have an ls head and this one is different?

ls head: no vtec :b18a1, b18b1, b20

gsr/type r/b16 heads: vtec :b18c, b16, b20(z)?

same goes for blocks unless an ls vtec conversion is done for an ls block.

what year is your teg?

Was this a Craigslist purchase?
You called it! Anyone really suprised though? Sorry OP, we're not making fun of you, but Craigslist has such an incredibly bad rep when it comes to cars. I have my own list of Craigslist nightmares I've seen when looking for a car for my sister.
The riceness of that valve cover is epic, he even put the dash in there, there's no dash in VTEC! It is a non-VTEC cover. You can't put a VTEC cover on a non-VTEC engine, and vice versa. Doesn't necessarily mean you got ripped off on the car, depends on the condition of the rest of it. Hope it works out for you. Welcome to the family!
