Seeking an answer about Header upgrades on Civics/Integras

I have a buddy who goes to school with me, and he swears up and down that tubular headers are actually a bad upgrade for civics/integras because he says "It robs torque, which is bad for 4 cylinders." I'm no car genius, but I know a little more than the average person and am still learning. I've never heard of headers being a bad upgrade for anything, but I just wanted to make sure. Needless to say my question is: Are headers a bad upgrade for civics/integras, or at least for my car?

P.S. I have a 91 Integra LS that has a b18a1 with b16 internals if that helps.

That's what I figured. It wouldn't make much sense to manufacture performance upgrades that didn't help, but like I said I just wanted to make sure. He did mention something about a book that says that they're a bad upgrade, but then again he also said you buy it at autozone... Lol

aslong as its 2" or 2.25" or 2.36" exhausts you are fine with a stock motor and a 2" collector on the header. As long as its not a 2.5" collector on the header

I can honestly say I'm not sure of the measurements on them. I got the car last month from a trade. I was told it has DC 4-2-1 headers, and from the pictures I've seen they do look similar. The rest of it is stock, straight piped, and the car sits so low that there isn't a tip on the muffler anymore. I assume it's from hitting the ground so much it just fell off lmao
