Noob to Integra (and driving!!)

hello,
I just got a 93 Integra GS and I'm as about as noob as they come. This is my first real car as I mostly took public traansport (philly). Now I'm in NC and this is my ride. However, I'm really interested int he tuning scene as now I have caught the speed bug.
The problem is I don't know where to begin!!! What literature should I pick up or website(s) should I visit to get started. Right now, I have couple of ideas as far as how I want the car to look. But mainly I want to make the car go fast.
When I say I don't know about cars, I mean, I just got my liscence like a year and half ago!!! Now that I drive, I really likemy Integra and am totally willing to immerse myself in the knowledge and spend some dough (what little of it I have, lol).
Anyway, thanx and here is a pic of my ride.

What are your ideas for looks? our ideaology here is that oem looks best.

For speed, since youb have a gd, that means you should have a b18a1 motor unless some one swapped it.
They are low compression motors and are very popular to turbocharge.
So (like ive been saying to people all day :lol:) you should boost it.
If you want to go naturally aspirated then id reccomend a b16 or gsr swap

thanx for the reply. this car is completely stock. I kinda wanted to take the spoiler off or change it to something bigger. Also, i wanted the car to ride a little lower but I don't know if smaller wheels or lowered suspension would achieve that look. I also have a sizeable dent on the rear right panel that needs to be ironed out!!! lol
I would like to do stuff with the engine. Its a 1.8L, non-VTEC....according to the VIN# report.
As far as looks, I think I want it to be subtle but of course gorgeous. I mean, I know these are things everyone wants and its kind of vague but I may want a dark grey paintjob. Definately some new, sleek rims.
All that and under budget would be great! haahhaha my budget?? TBA.

Since you have only been driving for a 18 months, give it some time. Get to know your car as it is. Cars will act differently and once you put on a 100,000 miles, it will really develop a personality of its own. Get to know it and understand all the sounds, smells, and vibrations that your car makes. Not to mention the specs and details.

Then, in a year, after you have read every write-up and have seen all the failed attempts and half-assed projects, you will have a better understanding of what you do and don't need to do. You will be able to recognize the people who put all kinds of shit on their car cuz they are trying to be all "fast and furious" and they don't actually know what the hell they are doing.

There is plenty of gold in this forum but you might have to dig a little to find it.

Welcome to Club Integra. Before any modifications take action, you should probably get your security (alarm) settled. Our cars as well as honda's in general are prone to haters and thieves. After you get that set, look into intake, exhaust manifold and exhaust system applications. People usually upgrade those and yes it makes a difference for a small amount of money. By the way, I think if you don't like the spoiler just take it off. Don't get anything bigger, it would look out of place and highly unnecessary. You have a nice looking car for sure, I would love to own a 93'' white da.

to be quite honest, I don't/didn't even know what a "ricer" is/was! After looking at that thread (and having a nice laugh) I think I fully understand what you mean. hahaha Seems like slapped on spoilers and wholly unfinished cars tend pronounce themselves loudly as typical ricers. lol
Anyway, yes, I will keep the brutal truth of ricers in mind when I pursue my integra!!!

coool, actual products that i can google!! I think adequate planning would be the wisest move. I've actually only owned the car for just under 2 months sooooo....
My car before this was a Hyundai Accent 96' lime green....hahhaah...but alas, I got sideswiped and the insurance paid for my integra!!

Yes. The simplest way to make your car look and perform great is to keep it clean and modify according to function, not form. There's no need for body kits, oem (original equipment manufacture) looks good as is. Researching for parts is important as well. I'll link you some nice write ups to read about,

x2145329412837461 except i wouldnt put gsr blades on a DA but thats just me, find some wheels u like and go with those. 15"s look PERFECT on DAs :thumbs up
