Pep Boys  What detail product's you use?

So since i like to clean cars a lot and i am probably going to become a porter at one of the local dealers i decided to test out some stuff at Pep Boys. The first product that i got was Meguiar's Gold Class Endurance Tire Gel

This stuff worked out great but i wish i had The actual tire applicator. The shine is the best, and as far as the smell goes... when i walk into the garage after i applied it all it smelled like grape everywhere. :D

The next product that i tried was Meguiar's Supreme Shine Hi-Gloss Protectant

This worked out great too. When i first applied it i noticed that it was streaking, but those went away after a while. The shine on the door panels and plastic pieces are awesome.

Something that i will need to try out next time is a leather cleaner.

I would like to know what everyone else tested at home and what they liked and what they didn't like.
Feel free to comment on this. Thanks for your time.

my da9 is blowin my mind
i use Meguiar's Gold Class shampoo and conditioner, it leaves a really good shine FTW! but you cant let the water dry up after you wash it or it will leave really bad water spots:x

they have so much stuff for car detailing, im just skeptical on certain things but this thread was much needed.

Ive been using Meguiars for awhile now, and everything ive tried from them has been fantastic.

My personal system is:

1) Meguiars Gold Class car wash concentrate
2) Meguiars Gold Class Clay Bar kit
3) Meguiars Deep Crystal Polish
4) Meguiars NXT Generation wax (this stuff is awesome, ive tried tons of waxes and this one is the best!)
5) Meguiars Hot Shine tire gel

i'll have to try that tire shine the OP used. I like car products that smell good. I mean when I go through steps 2-4 I have my windows down on my car and am in a closed garage because I love the wax/polish smell and love how that smell gets in my car when I leave the windows down and lingers for a few days.

Wow, surprised to see everyone uses Meguiars products considering theres so much more out there.

I also use meguiars professional products, and will soon expand my products into the Glaze (polish) and sealant realm.
I will be getting #07 glaze and #21 sealant, following it up with #26 wax. Probably going to pick up a more abrasive polish for tougher jobs, like my dads 94 pickup.

One of my friends tried there detail spray. This one

Which we tried it on his truck. Didn't do a good job. Was very bad IMO.

Me personally i don't like to use detail spray im more of the wax polish type. The only exception that i use it for is inside my door jams. works great there, just not the Meguiar's brand.

But really to the average consumer (who shops at autoparts stores) really its Meguiars that has the best line-up. I mean Mothers is right there too, but the overall product line and variations within Meguiars takes the cake. And I wont go into turtle wax ice, etc.

You are supposed to use quick detailer after a car has been washed, before its really dirty. I only ever see a need for it if Im going someplace after a wash that I want to get a bit of dust off.

I never had any issue with that detailer on my car.

I agree. That clicked after I posted. I started to think of what they actually had at auto parts stores. Its limited to Armor All, Turtle Wax, Eagle One, Meguiars, and Mothers. There may be a couple other odd balls, but thats the ones that stand out. I actually saw some Auto Glym products, but they were limited (maybe only interior products).

I may venture out into other products as time passes, but Im going to begin with Meguiars. Their packaging has captured me. Damn marketing/advertisement :suprise:

I take it you work it by hand? Why not pick up the cone or powerball? It would make life a lot easier.
