build thread. 97 gsr

yea, ima newbie here.. i have a new (to me) '97 Acura Integra GS-R. a huuuge step up from my '90 integra LS. im a soldier in the U.S. Army currently serving in iraq. i bought this car while i was here so i have yet to actually enjoy her. i sent her to my dads house since he does all the work on my cars for me. i sent my car to his house and so far ive gotten my heads port and polished, hes going to hook up my turbo and his buddy will give me my exhaust system, i bought new cambers and coil springs, a new body kit, new hood, new spoiler, new performance brakes and rotors, new rims and tires, new sparco seats with 5 point harnesses, a new GT-R type steering wheel, new tail lights, bumber lights, underglow lights, and new interior lights, just needs to be finished up which it will in the next couple months, and then painted. it is going to be my race car (track) and show car. ill post new pix as things get put on it and when i figure out how to post them lol. also ill post pix of my engine once its up to par. its still ugly right now. hope im worthy tho.

what good bro welcome to the club?are you getting a bodykit or lip kit? i would stick with lip kit it more clean once you drop it and underglow light is kinda ricy to me but im hoping to see some pic soon

A nice clean, tasteful look is most popular around here, so you're most likely to be told to skip the body kit and do a lip kit instead. Might also get critiqued on the choice of underglow and interior lights, but it sounds like a sweet build either way.

Make sure you post up the pics as the build progreses.

Also, what is it about people worrying about being worthy? You own an Integra! Welcome to the club!

Welcome! Sounds like your buying all sorts of things!

I would suggest you do a bit more motor work and a bit less on "fluffing up" the exterior. Get some nice cams to go with your ported head. Upgrade the intake manifold. Spend some money on a good tune and engine management system.

In my opinion, which you can completely ignore if you wish, is that a body kit is going to look terrible, altezza tailights are garbage, and the underglow was a thing of the past. This isnt the fast and the furious... I certainly hope you do not buy an aluminum universal wing. And please dont paint your calipers red...

Like I said, just my opinion.

ok. i bought a body kit, hoping it would add more flare to the entire body itself since ill be attempting to show it as well as race it against my buddies i GA at their clubs meets att he track. i am KINDA doing a lil bit of a ricer thing with it just becuz im from so-cal and thats what ive been brought up on. lol. gotta bring home with u wherever u go right? lol. and and im not painting my calibers red, i didnt get an alluminum wing, however i did already buy those tail lights.. lol. but they r still subject to change. lol. and i do appreciate ur suggestion and i am going to put more money under the hood. id love to put pix up, i tried earlier but that didnt work so well for me so if u could tell me how id appreciate it.. red98teg, im a 31b military police, if u go commisioned, can i just kinda advise one thing? listen to the platoon sgt when u get to ur unit, ull be the patoon leader, but the platoon sgt has been in for at least 7 years and u can learn alot from him or her and u dont risk the chance of getting ur guys killed if u deploy. but again, i thank u all for welcoming me, and i hope to put pix up soon.

for your pics, you just need to upload them to a host site like photobucket or tinypic,
then click the button that says image (when your posting on here) and put the url for the image in, the one that says direct link on the site.
or, you could just copy the "IMG code" directly off the site and put it on here.
as for the body kit, which one is it? some of them look alright, depends what all you do to the car.
if you start putting neons and 20 inch rims... wellllllllllll just no. =]

ill probably sell them when i get back home, not a whole lot that i can do from here.. lol.. i didnt put 20 inch rims, they are 17"s with low pros and the rims themselves are a mettal flake blue, the same color the car will be once it gets that far. lol. and i did that whole process. i used photoshop and i got the image imbed and i used the insert pic link and i tried to jus imbed it in the message but it was a no go...

where at in GA are you based out of? im from the ATL. oh and trust me... im not gonna be your typical butter bar. i did jrotc in high school and already have 1 year of senior rotc under my belt. i have been mentored and told time and time again to listen to my nco's. but i appreciate the advice man

haha they sound sexy, i love mag blue rims. do they look close to that?

im stationed out of fort benning. 3rd infantry division.. yea.. an infantry brigade and im an mp.. not really liked a whole lot.. lol. but audie murphy served with 3rd id b4 he went to 1st id..lol.. and thats good that u have sum type of experience under ur belt, i cant stad getting new butter bars.. weve gotten 2 since i been with this unit and our third one is on her way. im not sexist at all.. ive met sum females who can outpt me. but so far in the military police corps, ive found that women are just a nuisance here and they cant seem to keep their legs closed. i have 2 female battles getting kicked out of my platoon for fraternization.. they just arent worth the trouble. thank u jim, and no problem.
