New to cars in general

So yea, I didn't have too much of an interest in cars until quite recently, when i "inherited" my dad's used '99 LS Integra.

Its automatic, but I want to either get another Integra, something that I could upgrade and is manual, or make this one into a manual.

We usually send it to an Acura dealership to do regular maintenance like oil changes and what not.

Its green, i like the color, but looking around for inspiration for a totally new paint job. Its either that or just sticking with looking stock; I heard its better to "protect" against car thieves.

Everything in it is stock, I think. Again, I'm new to cars, so I have no clue what most of the parts are, how to identify what the parts are, or what they do.

It has near 67k, so not sure whether to upgrade an automatic or to buy another Integra(which is hard to find here in VA).

So yea, any upgrades or any work that needs to be done with the exception of some maintenance will most likely be done by someone else.

Theres a problem with the hatch opening mechanism, but its ok for the most part. The back bulb on the hatch burned out, but we've replaced it with a new bulb. And there is a slight dent on the rear left side from an idiot in the Costco Parking lot, ugh...

Other than that, I think that's it...

Need enlightenment in the ways of "building my car up". I love the car and want to show that I love it. I keep hearing from the kids at school that I was lucky to end up with an Integra, so I want to show them that I care for it, but again, I have next to nothing knowledge of cars.

Any questions, either pm me or reply I guess...

Oh, my dad also says that if I get a good score on the SATs then I can get another car or whatever, so thats also in the list of options.

And on a side note, I have noticed that cars and computers have a lot in common, but one have hot girls all over them, and the latter doesn't.

So yea, trying to "show off" but actually want to know what the hell I'm doing, and not to be called a "ricer". Although, I am asian driving an asian import car... oh well.

welcome to club integra. in my opinion i would take the car as opportunity to learn all the basics of maintenance and what everything is on this car. then whenever your dad is willing to buy you a new car, upgrade yourself to a manual GSR and then upgrade that car.

That is actually the problem. I don't know much of what is under the hood except where the to check the windshield fluids and the battery.

I thought about taking an auto repair class, but ended up with Computer Systems Technology and Drafting 1

CST is like introduction stuff for IT technicians, and drafting, well, is tech drawing.

I thought about asking around school for the info, but realistically, I don't think its reliable to listen to kids my age talk about cars, just because they aren't, for the most part, experienced as the "older" group. I mean no offense, just trying to get the point across.

Thought about reading on the Internet, but everyone knows that its the risk of the reader to take the info to heart. So I thought about looking around to find people who know what they're doing and won't, forgive the language, bullshit me.

Which leaves me to reading up on the books or taking a class later on.

Maybe I should post pictures and ask what is what?

Buy a haynes/chilton manual for an integra from an auto store :) it has probably most of the info u need, and any other questions u can ask on here :D

I live in Spotsylvania County

Its not that they're scarce per se, but I was looking for a Type R or something close to it, I guess that'd be the GSR from what I've read so far on the website

Also, working on the pictures

I don't know what exactly to take, so I'll just get the front, sides, and the back as well as the engine and the interior I guess

And yea, I get that a lot =P

To Cheesenip: I realize that GSR and Type R are two different cars, but the GSR, from what I know, is closer to the Type R than my LS, which I'm still trying to find my camera in the house...

Oh and my friend also drives a Neon, its like a dark grayish with two white strips down the middle. I think he just installed a supercharger in it, but I'm not 100% sure on that.

To Amber: Spotsy's a nice place. I enjoy driving around the country side and in the battle field areas. Have you heard of a place called Fawn Lake? Its about 30 minutes away from Central Park and really close to Orange County
