ok i read that thing... so lemme get this straight... if theres a dual over head came or sohc, they have an extra lobe(the thing that pushes the valve open when teh cam spins), how does that 3rd lope activate? is it a hydraulic? I am misunderstanding this indefinitely

There is a seperate rocker arm that follows the more aggressive cam lobe, but doesn't activate the valves. It's just free floating. At a pre-determined RPM, oil pressure pushes a pin in the middle rocker that locks it to the other two forcing the valves to be activated by the more aggressive load

so its a hydraulic lifted pin from the oil... thats how most lifters are made to prevent cars from ticking.. usually only exists in OHC cars... everything else is push rod to a point. Thank you for that information. I get it now..
