Ok... so my gf is a year younger than me and shes a senior in high school. she ALL excited about prom coming up... so thats all i hear about now (well all i have heard about since last fall) all she does is talk about shoes, and hair, and the color my tux has to be, and BLAH BLAH BLAH... i went last year, had a HORRIBLE time and so i never really wanted to go again in the first place. but im a pretty good boyfriend so of course i said i would go. then tonight we started talking about the moeny part of it... right now im looking at 120 for the limo, 150 for the tux, 90 for tickets, 20 for a corsage, atleast 50 for dinner... after totaling all that im FUCKED... and im not gonna ask my dad for the money, i mean im not in high school anymore, so why would i? then she talks about where were staying afterward. they are staying at a chicks house who i dont like, and dont care to ever see agian... then when i said i dont wanna stay she got all offended.(and im sure there wont be alcohol there) so now i have to keep her form being pissed at me, and figure out a way to not have to stay at that chicks house... right now im really tempted to break up with her jsut so i dont have to go... but then i would have to deal with all of her friends, and her and all th other bs so thats not even a good way out... right now im seriously fucked... help me out here guys.

1 im stuck going to high school prom and im in high school
2 gotta pay an ASS load of money i dont have to spend on that crap
3 stuck staying at a chicks house i dont want to (with NO ALCOHOL)
4 would break up with her to save myself... but im nto that big of an ass and i dont wanna deal with all the red tape...

HELP ME OUT!

no... i mean my wallet, and my instincts are yellin at me right now to get out of it. but i do car about her a lot. and i know that i wouldnt break up with her just over this... but its a nice thought lol

shes your gf dude your always gonna do shit you dont want to do. Prom is a big one with girls so your absolutely gonna have to make a good night for her, id say break up with her only if theres other reasons besides the prom deal... otherwise suck it up! lol been there done that!

ooh better idea!! did this last year! get a parent to do the 24 hour test drive on a vehicle and use it for prom and take it back the next day! TAADAA! only have to top off the gas tank much cheap then limo! and for the rest idk but this is why im single... it think... or its cause i suck at relationships but am a good friend.. either or! Id rather spend money on my teg! :)

dude I was in the same situation. My gf is 2 grades younger than me and we went through essentially the same thing. I paid for my prom and I told her if she wants me to go to her prom she would have to take care of the money side except for my tux (I actually ended up buying one because I use it fairly often as a musician). She did that so I agreed to go. So ask her to take care of some of that stuff considering it is HER prom and you are just a guest.

1)well i love the rsx-s... it is my favorite car so i would tell her that you're taking that instead of a limo... Does she like to go fast? cuz if she does then you can make a good night for both of you by racing some punk ass in his daddy's mustang or somethin... that should save some money...

2)as for the tux try to find a cheaper one... find a privately owned shop that you can rent from. i did this last year and rented a tux that matched my dates dress for 75 bucks... looked great too. it was black with pink... i looked so FRESH... anyway!

3)as for dinner you can be a real sweetheart and make dinner for her... i also did this last year because i was tight for money... scroll thru a cook book and find something that looked really fancy. stick with chicken because its easy to make... then set the table with candles and a nice table cloth... afterward (if she asks why you didnt take her out for dinner) just explain to her that you were really tight for money and you thought you would make it up by cooking her a very nice elegant meal... she will eat it up... literally (hahahahahaha)

4) i have nothin to say about staying at the girls house except dont let her know that you are aggravated because she will get pissed and not have a good night... prom is all about the girl, just like valentines day... the man gets nothing! except sex on both occasions. just be cool about it and try to enjoy it... go into the house and be very happy to be with your girl for the whole night... make conversation with everyone, including the girl that you dont like, and dont have any expectations... in the morning it will be over and you can go hoe and forget all about it...

and a tip... dance when she wants to dance... this will not only make her happy, but it will tire you out so when you get to the house you will be tired enough to fall asleep so you dont have to listen to the girl that you dont like talk all night...

i can guarantee that your girl will have the time of her life as long as you dont stress about anything, and just do it.... but what do i know i also broke up with my prom date at an after party... oops :)

do you really need a limo? i remember some of the proms i went to, people rode a taxi. haha. its not like your gonna look dumb rolling up there in an rsx. or else try to split on the limo with a group of friends.

in my book, 150 is way too much for a tux unless its for a wedding. i think i payed $40 for just a jacket cause i already had black dress pants. You can easily match her dress by buying a dress shirt for like $20-25.

jay ^^^ had a good idea about making dinner but most likely the gf would like to eat out and show how good y'all look. so your kinda S.O.L. with the dinner thing.

i dont know what to say about the her friends house. i guess just hope your gf is so tired she'd rather go home

If she's been talking about it since last fall, chances are she's expecting you to go all-out. She talks about all that stuff because she's excited.

IMO:
1) Limos are gay. Talk to her about cutting corners and whether it's more important for her to ride around in a limo or eat that night. lol If she chooses dinner, take her somewhere nice. In my experience, $50 for dinner is landing your ass in the Olive Garden. No fun. If you guys skimp on the limo, you'll still be able to save some money, but be able to take her somewhere nicer for dinner instead. It's important for her to be able to strut her stuff while she's all dolled-up that night (girl's perspective)!

2) I don't wear tuxedos, so I don't know the deal with that.

3) Can't skimp on tickets or corsage.

What are you more concerned about? The money part or the whole going to prom thing? If you really don't want to go and think you'll have a horrible time then tell her straight up. If you have it set in your head that you're not going to have fun now, chances are you won't have fun later. There's nothing worse than going somewhere with someone that bitches and complains all the time. It ruins the night for everybody else. If you don't want to go, you should give her time to find another date.

4) You can just hang out at her friend's house for a little afterwards, but leave a little early before everyone passes out. At least you made an effort.
