Anybody like the popping backfire from the exhaust when downshifting or revving?

Whoa those are rx7's are bad. Wow cool info ix. You know I've heard the greddy's sound like that on youtube, but I already had an exhaust put on from a shop and I don't think greddy sells just the muffler. I was thinking of getting the jdm password intake, but I believe the cold air intake is the way to go for me. But winter time may be a different story. muuahahahahaa.

most times the popping on a NA car is due to improper ignition timing and back pressure. i bet if you reset your ecu and set your timing to 16* it goes away. i only get popping when i let off the gas and put it in neutral.

You have too much back-pressure, hence the term back-firing.

My car does it a lot, way to small of an exhaust setup for my motor.
smart man... probably why its more common with boosted cars lol

Probably the most valuable post of the thread. Guess my teg wont have to worry about back firing with a 3". I do like the small "pops" on a boosted car when its idling.
it can happen with 3' when you go boost. and i like my idle from my 1000cc makes me think i have a baby camed V8 sometimes lol

if you purposly drill holes in your exhaust to make a leak it will cause a back fire but will also probably sound like crap also if you go catless it will cause your exhaust to backfire.

Popping when you let off the gas and in neutral is heaven. Yes exhaust leaks are not good. I hate the buzzing sound.

I wont mind the idle pops, but I dont need the redline pops.

If I want flames shooting out my exhaust, it has to sound like this.

All of those videos are retarded, and that person in the Evo is a horrible driver.

Those cars are backfiring due to unburned fuel getting into the exhaust. It's very easy to sneak fuel past the apex seals on rotarys which is why they have a tendency to backfire more than other cars. You should never have flames shooting out of your exhaust like that, car is running way to rich and/or have serious ignition problems.
