Painting the DA

I plan on painting the DA this summer. I have very minimal work to do on the rear quarters and a touch of rust around the passenger wheel well. ive already replaced my hatch with a non rusted one. and i still need to get front and rear bumpers, both fenders, and a hood.

When i get the body straightened out ill paint it myself, Frost White...i just cant decide on a few things

leave the side molding? or shave them?

install side markers?

color matched mirrors? or leave black and paint the roof black...

OR...color match the USDM side moldings?

what is everyones opinion?

hopefully by summer ill be able to paint. for now im just getting it all together.

im starting to like it all color matched. i was going to ask someone to post a pic of random color matched items...but that DA has everything color matched...I need some side skirts, and a bigger front lip.

JDM side moldings arent that much, I spent like $120 on mine. Just dont shave them, that looks bad.
Painted USDM moldings will also look good.

Paint mirrors for sure. Make the whole car white.

Side markers are up to you, mine are ok. Put them in with the one pieces, and ran the wires from the corner signal to them.

Shave them or get JDM side moldings

I personally don't like side markers one bit. I say hell no, but it's your car so completely up to you

Paint the mirrors

^ So true

It's funny to see so many people here want JDM then you go to Japan and there is so many people trying to replicate USDM. The styles are very interdependent upon each other.

What sickens me is their fascination with fucking Camaro's

Shaved side moldings look like shit on a G2, because the front and rear bumpers still have them

Well the idea would be to shave it all if you're going to do it. Might as well considering how much of a PITA it is just to do the sides

The bumpers would be a pain in the ass, they are built in to the bumper not a seperate piece. He would need to get a body kit to make that easy.

Not White, Pearl White
Just color match the USDM side moldings that way you don't have to waste money on boundo or thin moldings. Paint match the mirrors IMO. And the side markers are up to you if you get side markers I'd suggest getting the JDM fenders though. If you want to see what the USDM moldings and mirrors look like painted check out my car I just painted it pearl white.

I wouldnt recommend shaving moldings with bondo, thats not what its made for. Welding is the only way to go for shaving.

i would weld it, but i think ill stick with the USDM side moldings painted white. im also thinking about removing my antenna and shaving that smooth. because i dont have a radio, so i dont need an antenna.

i think this is what ill end up doing...

painting all side/bumper moldings white to match the car
white mirrors. (or paint them black along with the roof)
cut the fender and install side markers
1 piece headlights
and shaved antenna.
