just wondering if the rpms are normal, the stamp at where the engine meets the trans is "B18C" so its the Japanese stamped motor, im pretty sure its got a B18C Y80/S80 because of the revs, wouldnt an LS trans be lower because of the taller 4th and 5th gear and the taller final drive?

Consider yourself lucky. My db2 ys1 keeps my ls at 3500 at 60mph.. Love it in the lower gears but kinda want an ls 5th gear

I have a 95 LS, the numbers you're getting are more than likely identical to mine, as I'm probably 3k to 3.5k rpm at 65-70 mph, so up to 80 mph, we're probably about the same. It's normal.

Sounds about right for an ls trans. My b18c is right around that rpm at that mph with my ls trans

Sounds like an LS tranny to me. I am at like 4100-4200 at 80 with an S80 GSR trans in 5th.
i havent driven it in a while because its winter and i need an inspection, but ill need to check closer, first thing i should do is jack the car up and turn one wheel to find out if it's LSD. if it is, its the JDM S80/Y80, like i said, i havent driven it in a month or 2, and i dont drive it much on the highway, so it could be closer to 4.1k-4.2k

idk if its normal or not, i dont have the knowledge. but i can give you something to compare to. I have a stock 96 LS auto, and @ 72 mph im just above 3K RPM (in 4th gear i believe )
