headlights

i now have hids for my car but i feel like the stock headlights just scatter the light making it have a shorter range then they should, if that makes sense.

i have heard a lot about retrofit headlights, not fully sure what they are.

my main question though is; is retro fit headlights equal to or greater then if i ordered halo headlights?

Retrofitting your headlights are actually taking the projector from a vehicle that has HID from the factory, and putting them into the stock headlights. This is done with S2000, TL, and TSX projectors among others. Its a pretty intensive process because you have to remove the OEM projector and fit the new one in. Its not a bolt in modification.

After market replacement headlights are going to be no better than stock.

Sorry to thread jack but when you retrofit are the lights fixed or can they still be adjusted? Because with my jdm lights Im having a hard time adjusting them i think they might be broken.

Retro is always better, you will get the excellent cutoff of the newer HID equipped cars, but is much more difficult than anything else.

And you may potentially find a way to keep the lights adjustable, but because they are not direct bolt in, and you will need to cut up the housing a bit to get them to fit, they will more than likely be fixed. So once they are installed and set, thats where they stay.

on the side note, would my hids fit into the halos if i bought them, or do halos have their own bulb that wouldnt allow the hids in?

and would anyone on here make retro fits. I do not consider myself skilled enough to attempt that and this is still my DD and i dont want to screw up and not be able to drive my car at night bc i screwed up my headlights

and this is retro...

need i say more? theses pics are s2k projectors.. they have dyi on them, but can be very difficult to do. 1cm will adjust the light output, its crazy but goto hidplanet.com if you want to learn more, Its worth looking into doing if love lighting/ light output.

- you can use any oem/aftermarket headlight
-yes you can still adjust/aim the beam of light
- johnnymass does retro's, he knows his stuff! hes will be doing mine, just needs extra headlights now.
- you can use alot of different projectors from txs to sti to 300zx and fxr, best is s2k.

dang....thats intense, i saw that DIY but i dont feel confident in doing it, would rather save up and pay someone else to do xD

and i know that halos dont come close to retro fit s2k but a bit better then stock and have the halos

overall id take retro fit, do they still take the 9006 bulb?

no... DS2 would be the bulb you use! still need a ballast as well. retro can run anywhere from 300 to 500 depending on parts..if you want cheaper than that you can buy a len and swap it out with the crappy oem one. either way your going to take headlights apart.
