Thats the vtec F22 right? Last time I checked an LS made 142 whp while the ex made 145 whp (my cousin has a 97 ex). Unless you're going to do something crazy, I'd stick with the LS and do something with that... then again, I've heard of F22's pushing 300+ haha. Sorry I didnt answer your question but just wanted to give you some info you may not already know.

"what do I need for this engine swap"

Common sense, the ability to research, tools, Google.

well the f22 is a vtec motor thats why... the b18b1 is non vtec thats why i figured the f22 will have more horse than the smaller non vtec b18..

Lemme give you some advice bud. If im correct what your about to put in is a F22b1 SOHC Vtec, Sir if your looking for some horse gains you are in the wrong department, Unless if im not mistaken your sohc vtec was before 2010, (after this they found a way to engage vtec for both intake and exhaust on a sohc) its only vtec engaged for the intake, if your looking for gains with a vtec engine your gonna need a B17c1 or H22 since your in the accord/prelude department already, those are DOHC Vtec, the real hp gains are in them, or if your honestly really looking for gains just do bolt-ons or turbo you ls motor, nothing would be wrong with that. :D just tryna help before you do alot for nothing, i thought all vtec's were alike too until i researched

B18C
b16
H22
LS VTEC
B20 Vtec

are all swaps that are probably easier than what you want to do,
Hell, he could probably do a K-swap for about the same amount of cursing and tool-throwing. It would be a bit more costly, but would yield way better results.

No such thing as b17c1. There is b17a1, I think you meant b18a1.
But yeah, for all the money for mounts and all that.. you would be better off swapping a gsr.

Oops lol my bad lol i meant b18c1 :smackself yea the gsr engine, but what ive been tryna preach is that sohc didnt get good til 2010, he needs a DOHC Vtec if hes looking for performance, he wont find it in those sohc vtec's definately not that old one, honestly in my opinion i think he should just keep the engine he has, anyone else agreed?

Keep the b18b1, spend on a b18c1 swap, or save and do a k20(usdm type s) down the road. I don't think anything else is really worth it if you plan on smogging your car legally in california.

You ever wonder why there are so many sr20 240s for sale in Cali? They go for it, then when it's time to smog they're like ..."f***.." If it's for DD, I wouldn't go JDM(unless B18B1) or LS/B20V. The rules are pretty clear and if you get checked at a stop, you're screwed.

alrite well thanks. the only reason i asked was bc i have an accord the trans ran out so the engine is good. i was going to F2B swap f22 block with b18 tranny but now i see its only a 3hp gain not worth it. I was lookin for torque more than hp though. is k20 good for torque
