Problems after doing a swap?!

So I just finished putting in a used B18B1 got everything hooked up went to start and it misses terribly as well as backfiring pretty frequently. Won't even stay running without me holding the gas a bit. The car sat around for a good four months while I got the engine. I'm gonna look into if the timing belt is all good and in time as well as maybe try some new gas. Waiting on a compression gauge and fuel pressure gauge to look into that sort of thing. Any other Ideas guys?

off timing most likely or firing order

Sounds like timing is slightly off. Endo is right, could also be firing order.

Confirmed Fix!!!

Yeah I was thinking timing was off but maybe other problems as well since honestly I didn't even know if the new motor ran ok or...at all. lol I was on a budget to get my baby up and running again. So I decided late last night, start from scratch with everything to do with timing, re-set and re-do, EVERYTHING. Double checked Timing belt, double checked the dizzy to ensure it was installed correctly (mine won't even install incorrectly but it IS still possible on older b18a1 and even your high mileage b18b1 lol). Double checked the cap n rotor and then finally onto the wires.......kids, make sure you don't take to many breaks with mary jane during the parts of installing a motor that really requires your attention lol. I had the firing order ALL jacked up simply because.... I didn't double check. Firing order for B18B1 --> 1-3-4-2

She runs like a champ! thanks guys

HOW TO CHECK THE TIMING
STEP 1: GET A 19MM SOCKET AND TURN THE CRANK TILL YOU GET THE IMAGE

STEP 2: AFTER THE CRANK LOOKS LIKE THE IMAGE THE CAM GEARS SHOULD LOOK LIKE THIS ALSO

IF THEY DONT ALL LINE UP TOGETHER THEN YOUR TIMING IS OFF AND IT NEED TO BE REDONE

HOW TO CHECK THE FIRING ORDER
ALL DOHC HAVE THE SAME FIRING ORDER

GOOD LUCK
