Driving Techniques: Heel-And-Toe Downshifting

Yes. That is correct.

^You don't NEED it for DD but it's always good to practice

if i dont NEED to then what is a good way to turn a corner as a DD.

break in what gear you are in and throw it down a gear at the exit. for DD i just take corners at third or heel toe into it depends. i break into it push in the clutch and send it to third and match revs and go in third from the apex or the turn.

but you can do what ever you want. how ever you drive is the correct way.

In a corner, you obviously have to slow down right? So say for instance, you're in 4th gear and heading into a corner. First you have to brake to slow the car down. When you slow down, the RPM goes down. By now, you'll realize that you don't have enough power to get through the corner. Thats why you have to rev match. So you can keep the RPM within the right powerband to get you through the corner. You can downshift without blipping the throttle, but it's not that great for the synchros.
